What do you think of not using social media?

I have a passionate dislike for using my phone, particularly when speaking to other people. I think it is quite sad how much time we now spend behind a screen. I'm not completely judgemental I know apps are convenient and can be good fun but it seems lots of people have an addiction.

Do I look like a weirdo if I delete my social media?

No.

Do what you want - I removed FB/Messenger from my phone as I hated the notifications. I now only answer messages on there if I'm at home and not when I'm out.

That's good - I just don't want to be anymore isolated but I kind of feel the social media doesn't help anyway. The information overload takes me away from enjoying the present.
No, I deleted unnecessary (essentially time wasting) apps like Facebook etc. I now only have 2 social media's and it's what makes me happy. Less it more ygm

That's good, I feel like I should probably add TSR to this because i just use it when bored to distract me from having to actually do anything else
I deleted all my social media over a year ago. I now only have a private instagram where I post my personal photography stuff.

Oh my God same. I actually really need to come of TSR. I have too much beef and debates with people here and they just refuse to understand anything with an open mind. Damn I should delete it too
You can always just keep them but not log in/use them. I do think there's a place for social media, as I have a lot of family added who live overseas and it is nice to be able to have a look at what they've been up to. But I do agree that a lot of people - myself included - spend far too much time on social media. I don't think it does us any good, either, to be honest. It just sort of makes out that everyone is happier, richer, and prettier than us.. way to damage self esteem!

Haha I know the debating feelings. It's addictive when you are bored. I feel like intelligent people like you just need another way to let off steam and TSR is convenient.

I agree it can't be healthy to our self esteem. We also don't appreciate as much I think as out of the ordinary events become more common we take less joy in the triviality of life.

You read me like an open book  It's addictive what can I say. I like debating but only when people have genuine opinions that are logical, not whinge-type opinions. But sometimes I just like learning about the other side.

Haha only because it applies equally to myself so I have an idea of what the appeal is, I come here for different views too. I just need to socialise more but social media kind of gets in the way of that too because everyone is on their phone.

Ahh yes of course. I suppose I am quite similar in that situation. But it is what it is. I try to talk to people about controversial issues now just to get talking, but not everyone is up for a debate on abortion
I don't own a phone. Facebook on my PC is the only way I keep in contact with people lol.
