Direct entry into second year (and a general question!)Watch
I've been thinking about applying to St Andrews for chemistry, and hopefully with get at least AAA in my a levels.
Has anyone here gone directly into second year? What's the workload in second year like since you haven't done first?
Also, when I looked online it says most students take one or two subjects in second year. Would it be normal just to take one, or do most people take two?
Thanks for any responses!
Also got an offer for second year. Current lecturers/technicians are advising me against it because the physical chemistry from my current course is apparently too far off. Anyone who answers OP's question, can you also detail what the physical chemistry content is like? I've heard quantum mechanics is taught in second year, requiring knowledge of calculus. Furthest I've covered is gas laws and kinetics, etc.
