So I'm considering applying for the year in industry scheme and taking a gap year next year, but if I don't get good enough grades to reapply I'd rather just go to uni straight away and perhaps take a year out later. But I'll only know my grades in august obviously, and the YINI scheme is all decided by then, so would I be able to drop out of the YINI scheme and go to uni instead or would I be contractually obliged to take a year out?

Well doesn't YINI just link you with a company, you'd probably sign a 12 month fixed contract then if u find a job.

I suspect most companies would be pretty pissed if u quit 2 weeks before your due to start as they then can't replace you in time for the scheme, but i think most companies would let u walk as they won't waste their time on u if u dont want to be there, but u would burn a few bridges...
