Except it was also a very poorly run business, whose troubles of being too small and under resoruced started a long time before brexit.

"Actual" bmi folded long ago, its flights transferred to BA. Leaving behind the weird domestic/regional airline that had no chance against train, coach or Flybe.

BMI has had issues for a while due to rising fuel costs and operating in an ultra competitive environment. I'm not saying that Brexit isn't a factor but there's certainly others in play that were/are significant.

Looks like the valuable Newcastle to Stavanger route has already been bought up!

Phew! And the vital Aberdeen to Esbjerg route! Most Aberdonians go to Denmark's fifth largest city for important business deals.

But what will happen with the government subsidised route from Derry to Stansted????

Perhaps Emirates might take it up?

Last year they flew just over 500,000 passengers on 29,000 flights. That’s an average of about 18 passengers per flight. Totally unsustainable.

Pointless airline that ended up flying a few obscure routes on small, expensive planes. Little to do with Brexit that they finally collapsed - other airlines and airports in the UK are thriving.

High quality routes, like East Midlands to Brussels will have high airfares - probably a couple of grand a ticket. Even with just 18 pax it'd be sustainable.

I doubt the fares were (or could be) anything like that high, and it wasn't sustainable.

A private jet would be cheaper.

You didn't originally say your fare was return

Nottingham to Brussels? Two trains can cover that route. Plus you don't spend as much on transit to/from the airport

Do you expect people to take you seriously when it was clearly not brexit that made this company go under?

The real casualty of brexit has been the left's sanity, although then again maybe they never had any...

But imagine if we had voted Remain...
18 Feb 2019: "Honda announces plant shutdown"
Then the BBC/Guardian comment boards would be full of leavers saying "But Remainers said this would not happen!"

They'd blame it all on having the referendum in the first place.
