I’m going to uni in September 2019 but because of how much my parents earn, I get the bare minimum. This obviously will not cover the cost of much other than Pot Noodle.

Of course my parents can pay for it but they are unwilling to. So how can I go about this?

You can’t get more than the minimum if your household income is high. It’s worth asking your parents to provide their income information for your first year. The funding calculation removes pension contributions and has an adjustment for siblings that can mean you may get more than you think.

Other than that - if your parents can’t subsidise you then you’ll need to find the extra yourself through working and saving.

Alternatively if you get married or have a child, cease all communication with your parents for 12 months or live by yourself (on your own income) for 3 years then SFE will class you as independent and ignore your parents income.
