For viruses, there are 2 ways they act. The lytic cycle and the lysogenic cycle. The lytic one is where they inject their dna into a cell and the cell creates more viruses which go and affect other cells. The lysogenic is when the virus injects their dna into the cell and waits for the cell to divide. Therefore, the cell which has the virus would divide into another 2 cells which have the virus. This carries on and on.
