What?!
There isn't a Starbucks anywhere in Derbyshire! Well, I don't think theres one in Derby but to be honest I never looked...
I always associate Starbucks with New York after becoming obsessed with You've Got Mail......

Starbucks was founded in Seattle! The one in St Andrews was very cosy as I remember.

I know that! I found out through Austin Powers though lol!
But Starbucks is an important part of You've Got Mail hence my association with the two!

I've got a feeling that I may spend a lot of time in there....

Sorry! Yes my frappuccino consumption is likely to spiral in St Andrews

Its surprising what Austin Powers teaches you!
I love the tea, and the caramel macchiato, and the smoothies, and the caramel hot chocolates, and the toffee hot chocolates...I could go on!
There's many a better coffee shop in St Andrews - the Costa is much, much, much nicer (with better coffee) - and there's places such as couch and bean scene and some on north street that are just plain better... The only good thing about Starbucks are the frappacinos, but even the frescatos in costa top them!

Not much of a coffee lover, what's the hot chocolate like in these places?! :p:

the hot chocolate is amazing in most places! the vic gives you enough cream to stop your heart from beating then and there, and if you go to north point you'll get the best hot chocolate in town - sprinkled with crushed maltesers!
North Point is amazing. Go there :p:

I've had the caramel hot chocolate from the Starbucks in St Andrews, it was good  I think we should all go and just doze in the loveliness of their hot chocolate haha.

The sound of crushed maltesers on hot chocolate sounds so good, I'm jealous!
Don't be surprised to see a crazed person running through St Andrews in an hour... it's probably me in search of said hot chocolate!

I'd loooove a chai latte. Have them all the time at home - only had it once here in bean scene and it wasn't too good unfortunately :/

sometimes if you get them from a coffee shop or whatnot, they are way too sweet. i had one at Eat and it was absolutely horrible - i couldn't finish it.

i like massala (sp?) tea too, i have that home mostly.
Oh sweet relief! There's a Costa and a Starbucks in St Andrews. Must agree that Frescatos are nicer (read: sweeter) than Frapps.

Lack of shops means I'll spend less...because all my money _ more is going on halls. yay.

To be honest the lack of shopping hasn't really bothered me and my flatmates (read: girly-girl shoppers). We're home often enough that we can do most of our shopping there, we've had two shopping days in Dundee, and when the sopping bug hits you - you'd be surprised how well you'll do on just accessorize/monsoon and new look :P Not to mention online shopping, we've done a lot of that

Long before I had any desire or idea to attend University I visited St Andrews through work commitments. I distinctly remember standing in the Raisin awaiting my turn for service.

The whole bar was being held up by a group of Yah's who were hell bent on ordering lots of drink and then changing the order over and over. In the end the barman said enough was enough and called up their total.

At this point the lead Yah (a Girl in a body warmer) produced what I can only assume was Daddies Amex card. The barman was well irate by this point, as were most of the other customers. He informed her they did not take that card and she continued producing forms of payment until she found one the barman liked.

My mate and I got served next and the barman almost swung for my mate when he said "Do you take cash mate".......
