# Maths help needed!Watch

Workout the values of a and b in the identity.
3ax + 6 - 4 (x+b) = 11x + 14

(its supposed to be a triple = sign, but I don't have the key for it)

Expand the brackets, and equate the like terms.

Collect all the terms with X in the LHS and equate it to the X terms in RHS and do the same with the constants.

a =5 and b= -2
Thank you, but how do I get there

because it's an identity, the overall X term on one side is equal to the overall X term on the other side. same goes for the numerical value that is alone.

3ax =15x, so what number times with 3 to equal 15, the answer is a =5

-4b = 8, so b=-2

3ax+6-4(X+b)= 11x+14

3ax-4x=11x [divide by X ]
3a-4=11
3a=15
a=5

6-4b=14
-4b=8
b=-2

3ax =15x, so what number times with 3 to equal 15, the answer is a =5
So 15x+6-4b is equal to 15x +14.
so you can take away 6, then divide by 4 and get that b=-2.
Thank you so much for the help
