Year in Industry or extra year at work?

I'm considering taking a year out and doing the EDT Year in Industry Scheme before uni, so that I can reapply and hopefully get a place in my preferred unis. However, I already have offers at 3 unis, and I can help but think that going to a slightly weaker uni and getting a year extra in work after graduation would prove a stronger choice.

What benefits do a year in industry give you over that year in a real job I would miss out on after graduation?
