Should be fine, I mean it's not like you're mutilating your genitals...
Yeah tattoos are haram. I dont think it is mentioned directly in the Qur'an but you have to remember that the Quran and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (the Sunnah) go hand in hand. There is a hadith in Sahih Bukhari and Muslim forbidden tattooing and this hadith in sahih Bukhari
Narrated Abu Huraira:
A woman who used to practise tattooing was brought to `Umar. `Umar got up and said, "I beseech you by Allah, which of you heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying something about tattooing?" l got up and said, "O chief of the Believers! l heard something." He said, "What did you hear?" I said, "I heard the Prophet (addressing the ladies), saying, 'Do not practise tattooing and do not get yourselves tattooed.'"

I've already linked to where it's been justified in Islam on the most popular fatwa source out there, where even I-Soc members have used to justify female circumcision on here.

It was a fascinating microcosm of the fundamentalism and sectarianism in Islam. Unfortunately it seems to have gone quiet in recent months.

i know this will be a long answer but please read it

return to allah the way he created you - remember your body was created purely with clay from Allah (swt).
and you are engraving on your skin that is permanent... yes the procedure is painfull....but who are you hurting the most? Allah (swt) ...not your self..
at the end of the day, you will be the one answering your question, and us who are writing to you will be questioned as to what we have done as a believer for you...
be humble
and i dont know what ur intention is but stay in siraatul-mustaqeem ( straight path)

You're looking at weak hadiths, just trying to cause problems. TSR as usual !
it's haram - you need to give your body back to Allah like he gave it to you

Ah, how convenient. You asked where it's part of Islam and I referenced one of the most popular sources of jurisprudence that was even used in this very thread (post #3) to answer the OP's question!
