Are you interested in training to be a teacher?

The Department for Education have asked us to chat to you about why you are or are not interested.

Please respond to our poll and post your responses to the questions below (whichever is most appropriate to you). Sharing your thoughts and views on this will be highly valued.

If you are interested in teaching can you share your thoughts on:

- What attracts you to teaching?

If you aren't interested in teaching please can you share why?

- What is the main reason you wouldn't consider training to be a teacher?

Please be as honest as possible

Thanks everyone
Regarding your poll - neither option. I'm doing a BEd degree, so going into teacher training when I graduate would be silly as I would already be a qualified teacher.

Regarding your question - what attracts me to teaching? I love making a difference to children's lives and enriching their understanding of the world.

Pay's too low for my liking... it would be better to be a university lecturer.

I'd consider becoming a uni lecturer but that's about it. Controlling a class of actual children is far too much effort. Secondary school age kids can be little ****s, and primary school kids can poo themselves. Add on the bad working conditions and the work one would have to put into teacher training in the first place, and suddenly it becomes a no-win scenario.

I would like to consider it despite the reasonable cons...it's one of a kind experience to engage and understand potential holding minds..however I'm afraid this role would be seized by AI in the future...

Teaching is something I've been considering. It'd have to be secondary though - I'm not the best around small children.
