So, two subjects I’m hugely passionate about are History and media. Initially I wanted to study a undergraduate History degree, but career-wise I have always dreamt of working in radio (a dream I’ve had since I was at least 15). I was wondering, would a history undergraduate (once they graduate) be able to get onto a post graduate Radio masters degree? As I know a lot of English and history grads convert to journalism at masters.
Do you think a history grad would be accepted onto a MA Radio production degree? Especially if I volunteered at the university radio station.

That was one way I was thinking that I could essentially study both subjects. As I really am passionate about both!

Or:-
I could take the normal route of studying media production at undergraduate and then a masters in radio production.
I emailed the university I’m interested in studying at and they said as long as I could show relevant skills and experience and could explain why I wanted to do the master degree in radio. I could be considered.

For most MA courses in things like Broadcast Journalism, it would be fine to study History - just aim to get a 2.1 and relevant work experience at a local (or Uni) radio station during your degree. Personally, I think it would be better to take the history route as it also keeps other options open, which is always a good thing

thank you for your advice, very informative. I think I'm leaning more towards media but I am going to go to an open day to finally make my mind up

That is the best thing to do, go to the relevant open days and ask lots of questions
