Ozymandias

Why has Percy Shelley decided to write Ozymandias in sonnet form please get back to me if you have any ideas thanks
Because he was a romantic poet (?)
he did try limericks first:

there was an old Pharaoh from Thebes
who inspired a poem for Dwebes
his works they were mighty
though he dressed in a nightie
and banned the consumption of Grebes

but that did not appeal to his editor... so sonnets it was

It wasn't a complete sonnet, to show that the Ozymandias did not have complete power - He was close, but it all got destroyed?

Sonnets are usually associated with love poetry. So Ozymandias loved himself and his power - it's like he's writing a love poem to himself by himself.

The poem is wrote in the form of a sonnet. This is very ironic as it is a symbol for Ozymandias’ self-pride and the fact that he thinks he is perfect and loved. This links to the message as by writing it in the form of a sonnet it represents his arrogance and hubris - extreme self pride.
