Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch tonight.

A degree in Pharmacology can lead to a range of careers such as:
Analytical chemist
Biomedical scientist
Clinical research associate
Healthcare scientist, clinical biochemistry
Healthcare scientist, immunology
Medicinal chemist
Pharmacologist
Research scientist (life sciences)
Research scientist (medical)

With some additional study you could also go into the following careers:
Higher education lecturer
Medical sales representative
Patent attorney
Regulatory affairs officer
Science writer
Toxicologist

Pharmacology degrees are normally 3-4 years in length can have quite high entry requirements and generally you'll be studying the effects of drugs on the body and how to develop effective treatments for both humans and animals. It might help you for you to start research Pharmacology degrees on the UCAS website - https://digital.ucas.com/search/results?SearchText=pharmacology&filters=Destination_Undergraduate

For your second questions regarding French, it might really help to speak with your teacher about this to see if there is any extra support that they can put in place. If possible you could also look into the possibility of getting a French tutor to help you outside of school. There are a lot of websites out there to support with learning languages like the GCSE Bitesize website - https://www.bbc.com/bitesize/subjects/z9dqxnb

I hope this helps, if you have further questions I would be more than happy to help.

Thanks - Sophie.

thank you, Sophie
I'm live until 9pm tonight, if you have questions about your career, revision, apprenticeships or anything else you can think of let me know on this thread and I'll do my best to help.

Thanks - Sophie.
Do you know of any finance related work experience opportunities?

Do you know of any finance related work experience opportunities?

Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch tonight.

You might find the following website helpful for work experience with some of the larger finance firms - https://www.allaboutfinancecareers.co.uk/stage/finance-work-experience/finance-work-experience-ideas

Alternatively you could try contacting local banks or accountancy firms to enquire about work experience or check out their websites about any work experience schemes they have running. Quite a lot of banks or finance firms offer work experience here is a list of some:

Bank of America Merrill Lynch
Bank of England
Barclays
Deloitte
Deutsche Bank
Ernst & Young
Goldman Sachs
Grant Thornton
Hiscox Insurance
HSBC
J.P. Morgan
KPMG
Morgan Stanley
Nomura
PwC
RBS
RSM Tenon

I know that's a lot to work through but hopefully you will be able to contact them or check out their websites for more information.

I hope this helps!

Sophie.
Not a question, but I'm glad you're on TSR! :h:
1 hour left to get your questions to me tonight!
My main priority is to get to a space agency, but I would gladly join any aircraft manufacturing company. I want to design rockets and planes, so should I choose Aerospace Engineering or Aeronautical engineering? Are these secure jobs too?

I would hope for my own sake that jobs in aircraft manufacturing companies are stable... (Going into a commercial role at an aerospace company.) From most adverts I saw these types of companies would accept either. As far as I'm aware as long as the UK stays on it's 2% NATO spending target aerospace jobs in the defence sector are very secure. If you want a job in the defence sector of aerospace many companies operate in the UK and offer graduate jobs such as Lockheed Martin, Leonardo (Helicopters), MBDA (Missiles), Airbus Defence and Space, Boeing Defence and BAE. In the commercial world there has been some instability due to Brexit. (Bristol Post) However there are also many employers in the UK such as Boeing, Airbus, Rolls Royce (Engines), Bombardier and GKN. (I hope this kind of helps!)

Hi,

Thanks for your message!

It’s great question and I’ve included a bit of information about both of these routes in the links below. They include details about the units which you will be studying in each course and an example of the type of careers and jobs which could be open to you:

https://www.qualhub.co.uk/qualification-search/qualification-detail/ncfe-level-3-introductory-diploma-in-travel-and-tourism-3912

https://qualifications.pearson.com/content/dam/pdf/BTEC-Nationals/Travel-and-Tourism/2017/Specification/60190243-foundation-diploma-travel-and-tourism-purpose-v1.pdf

The main difference seems to just be the awarding body of NCFE and Pearsons both qualifications offer the same type of study and a qualification with the same UCAS points so there really doesn’t appear to be much difference.

Have you been able to speak with any colleges which offer these courses to get a better idea of exactly what to expect?

Thanks
How important is salary? Scenario; two firms based in central LDN. Direct competitors.
firm 1; huge, amazing culture, average salary
firm 2; big, good culture, 30% above average salary

both jobs the same

Hi,

This is a very important question which gets asked a lot unfortunately, there’s no ‘correct’ answer! It’s very much about your own personal opinion as to how important money is for you.

For example, if you are thinking that you will be in this industry for a few years before moving on to something else, it may be better to take the higher salary to maximise your earnings while you are here.

However, if it’s a role or industry you are looking to stay in for the long term, having a more supportive environment around you may make your overall working life much more enjoyable and the lower salary will not mean much to you at all!

Everyone is different and everyone will be looking for something different from their working lives so it’s really down to what you think is more important!

I hope this helps and good luck!

You're more than welcome!

You would need to study for a specific cabin crew based qualification but many Travel and Tourism courses have units as part of their course which offers cabin crew training which will certain get you started on this path.

I would recommend having a look at the Cabin Crew Job Profile link (https://nationalcareers.service.gov.uk/job-profiles/cabin-crew) as it can offer bit more of an idea about what qualifications you need, and the different entry routes available!

Thanks!

Hi,

You would need to speak with the college first to make sure the course you're applying for qualifies and then you can use the information on this link (https://www.gov.uk/advanced-learner-loan/how-to-apply) to apply for the loan!

If you've got any questions about the application, I would suggest giving our advisers a shout through our webchat (http://bit.ly/2Htj87S) and they can provide more details!

Best of luck!
