Isn't a 4 a pass? But no harm in trying to go above and beyond
I was the same. I asked my maths teacher to stay back with me on Fridays to give me practice papers and teach me, so while everyone left at 3 I left at 6.
Then I did more practice papers at home and watched MathsWatch! I made brief notes on some concepts and looked back at them over and over.
I learnt my formulas for shapes and things too.
You won't fail man! The exam was a bit easier than the practice papers, so I'm sure it will be the same for you. Most people surpass their predicted grades!

Well a good pass is a 5 and more colleges want a 5 in maths! I stay after school on wednesdays for maths and just do practice questions! Yeah apparently the real exams are more easier then the mocks hope it’s true or I’ll end up failing! Hope it doesn’t happen tho cuz I try so hard for maths but still get low! When I say hard 3/4 hrs a day

Then you're on the right track! Keep pushing and focus on the topics you're not very good at! You'll pass!

easiest

(extra) polish (A*)
sociology
history
art
english lang
english lit
re (due to amount of work)
additional maths
physics
maths (completed - A*)
biology (really bad teacher but get decent grades and hope to take it for a level)
numeracy (completed - B 😔 four marks off an A)
chemistry
welsh

* from observation, quite a lot of people seem to find english lit and lang difficult? why's that? can i have someone elses pov.
For me it's just lit that is difficult. It is consistently my worst subject. You leave the exam thinking you did well only to find out that you didn't. I just don't know how to analyse in enough detail to get a grade 9 I guess

I considered workload and hours you have to put in, as well as the actual exam. Like, in terms of Dance GCSE, you need a really good memory, and you need to be able to choreograph well- that's why I personally find it difficult

Interesting to hear. I never enjoyed the subject and I wasn't very good at reading into the deeper themes of the book, but my teacher basically told me a lot of it so I knew what to write about for the exam. From there I just had to practice writing about these ideas and in the format required for the exam.
That’s very interesting, I read the article you linked and I think I agree with you to some extent in the terms of what we learn though doing English lit are not so important they should be compulsory. However with my school specifically they had have many students who do not read for pleasure so I think Eng lit is a very good way for them to get back into it and perhaps give them an insight into the sort of books that can be interesting to read. For eg I loved reading mice of men and some of the poetry, however hated Frankenstein with a passion 😂

Thanks for reading! I think it's a great idea to try and get more students reading for pleasure, but I don't think this is the way to do it. The texts covered in the syllabuses aren't going to be to everyone's tastes, and some are just difficult to understand. Many students just find it boring, and it puts them off reading even more.

english lit is my most difficult gcse, language you either can do or you struggle with I think because it's about analysing and finding the techniques but lit you need to know so much content and it's really hard to revise it

I honestly envy anyone who finds English easy and manages to get 9s. I would trade in my math and computer science abilities any day for the ability to be good at English.
