That's a little unfair, some people can't afford the same kind of real estate as you.

OP: is that an undergraduate course or a master's degree? (I don't know of it.)
The job opportunities are probably very good either way.

its the best place in the UK to study the course. jobs in bio are a plenty and coming from Imperial gives you the best start. I cant comment further on the course itself other than on the robotics Lab they are building which will be awesome for you if youre interested in research.

sorry about the initial message. I wasn't aware of that rule. :frown:

I have applied for an undergraduate degree in biotechnology in Imperial. My offer is ABB.

I have also applied for undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences in Cambridge. My offer is AAAAB.

My main concern now is whether a natural science course is too vague a subject to get proper jobs after undergraduation. Can someone please clarify.

Thank you for the above replies!!

natural sciences at cambridge is a brilliant course and is not too vague at all. it will put you in a fantastic position no doubt. you seem to be unsure of the area you wish to work in?if you are 90% certain you want to work in biotech then i would go to Imperial but natural sciences will allow you to customise your degree and explore your interests further and if you are still unsure where your future lies i would highly recommend nat sci. other factors are London vs cambridge etc but basically if you arnt over 80-90% sure you want to go into biotech then i would go for nat sci.

I am not 90% sure. But, does it matter where i study if i want to do my postgraduation in USA. I mean, will i be given scholarship just because i studied in Cambridge?? Or will Imperial be in a similar position??

sorry for badgering you with so many questions... but i am in a really confused state right now.

They do not give out scholarships based on educational establishment - never. They will give you a scholarship if you get a first in your degree; whether its from Cambridge or Imperial is irrelevant.

good luck with your decision  you cant make a wrong one thats for sure!
Hey, I'm exactly in the same position, except in Yr 12. Exactly the same kind of person you are...! I'm thrilled.

I'm planning to apply to both of the above courses. And I'm quite confused too. I think if I get Nat Sci at Cambridge I'll go there, and get a degree in Genetics at the end of it. Out of interest, what other Unis did you apply to for Biotech ?

hi duran duran.... sorry for such a late reply... i have been pretty busy for the past few months.

I had applied to UCL (biotech), queen mary's (natsci), and reading (which doesnt do the course NatSci anymore) :frown:

I am happy to say that I got offer from both Cambridge and Imperial. I have chosen Cambridge as my first choice. Thanks to everyone here.

Good luck to you duran duran... i hope you get a place in a good uni as well.

If you are still confused... I am happy to help you... just ask.
Cool. Well done! Can I ask what your AS marks were and in what subjects...out of curiousity ?

And do Cambridge really give offers on 5 subjects? I thought it was always a standard AAA, and sometimes AAAA. ( i'm doing 5 A2s as well)

Also applying to nottingham.

I did Maths, physics, chemistry, biology and further maths. This was a really good combination for natural sciences, i think... as it allows me to choose any module.
It's good that you are doing 5 A2 levels... it always helps.

Ok... now for my AS results... I got A's in bio, chem and maths and B's in phy and f.maths. So... 3 A's and 2 B's.

Cambridge usually doesn't give offers on 5 subjects... I was an exception actually. It maybe because i hadn't done my GCSE's here. :frown:

But Imperial only wanted 1 A and 2 B's from me for biotechnology. If you are applying for the same subjects as me, give more importance to bio and chem. What A2 subjects are you doing by the way???
Reply 16
You know what.... i'm planning to do genetics in my final year as well!!! :yep:
A2 , I'm doing Maths, Further Maths, Chem, Bio. At AS I got over 80% UMS in all subjects. I've also done some other stuff for CV fodder. All depends on the interview, fingers crossed.

Gosh, I want to get into either Imperial or Cambridge so bad.....

Remember to smile in the interview and appear self confident. Also look the interviewer in the eye atleast a few times. Your handshake must not be too weak or too strong. These are little tips to remember. Practice with friends and teachers. Also try attending some interview preparation classes. I think pure potential conducts a few. Visit this website, you may know about it... www.purepotential.org. Also, the interviewers really like it if you try connecting different sciences together. Also try throwing in names of some books you have read (if you have read it :P).
hope this helps .

Imperial doesn't conduct interviews for biotech. It all depends on your AS marks... and yours is pretty good.
