The 'catchy bit' or 'main theme' of Atom Heart Mother is nice but that's about it as far as I can remember, and there is a section of it that is just pure unlistenable noise with no function at all, so overall there's no justification for the track to be anything like as long as it is in my opinion. Echoes on the other hand is consistently listenable all the way through and the build up to the 'pay off' is that good, and the pay off itself that satisfying, that the length of that track is genuinely legitimised in my view.
