To save everyone's time I'll summarise content mapping between FS1 and the old stats modules:

• Discrete random variables - S1
• Binomial - S2
• Poisson - S2
• Negative Binomial - S5*
• Geometric Distribution - S5*/AQA S4/OCR S1
• CLT - S3
• testing - S3
• Probability Generating Functions - S5*/OCR S4
• Quality of tests - S4

(there is nothing completely new in FS1)

*S5 is a very old module (back when there was 20) that was examined between 2002 and 2006. There aren't that many past papers available (I put other exam boards there for that reason) and probably quite hard to find - not sure whether I can link some sources here. (needless to say, one or two of the questions will look very familiar because they ended up being reused in the FS1 textbook!)

I started writing some notes but I may never finish them. I'll post them here if/when they reach a state that I'm happy with. I'll lurk to give a hand if anyone needs help.

Thanks for this As long as the resources aren't copyrighted then feel free to share any resources for anything, especially topics not in the most recent spec papers!

S5 past papers (this may well be all of them but if anyone has any others feel free to post them):

• June 2002 (QP, don't have the MS for this one)
• June 2003 (QP, MS)
• June 2004 (QP, MS)
• June 2005 (QP, MS)
• January 2006 (QP, MS)

Pulled together a few questions on probability generating functions. I will preface that the later bits of question 5 are too hard to come up on our paper. Let me know if you find these useful. Have plenty more questions I can put together. I modified it slightly to say "shifted negative binomial distribution", since the Edexcel spec uses a different convention to MEI. Fun to know only 19 people sat the paper the question came from.
