Sooo I just got a rejection from UCL for mech. engineering. This joins my first rejection from Imperial for mech. engineering. Looking through some of the other courses e.g. physics, my predicted grades meet their requirements and I feel like I can surpass them anyway. Do I have much of a chance through clearing for UCl/Imperial? I really want to stay in London and I would want to avoid a gap year if possible. Does anyone know if there's anything I can do right now? thanks!

UCL and imperial don't tend to have many courses if any in clearing.

As above I think its a bit clutching at straws if you are looking for clearing. Low chance and even then they have already rejected you.

Best get some feedback and figure out where you lost out. It might not be grades.
If you arent prepared to leave London then you have to make some choices:

Improve application.
Choose another London uni.
Take a gap.

There are other universities in London that offer mechanical engineering, e.g. Brunel and City.

UCL and Imperial aren't in clearing. There are other universities in London that offer mechanical engineering and may be in clearing but there's always adjustment if you surpass the required entry requirements for your course. However, this doesn't guarantee that your course will be in adjustment if it's a fairly popular course. Hope this helps.
