For AQA English Lang Q5 (GCSE) when it says write a story or description, if the story topic was ‘write a story about an accident’ and I wrote more of a description eg. the scene after a plane crash, would I still get marks or would I get marks ‘deducted’ for writing more of a description for the story option?

It’s fine. You wouldn’t get points deducted. Story’s have to be really descriptive to get the marks anyway and you still have some sort of storyline.

The story was about some wood, but the trees were personified in pretty much every sentence and told the story of a fire...kinda. Also I know how cringe that sounds lol

If the examiner can make out some sort of plot out of that description, you should be fine. If not, it could potentially be seen as a deviation from the question, and that's where marks can definitely be deducted.

Of course, it definitely will not be to the point of zero. On its own, I doubt it could be too much.
