The combined pill and progestogen-only pill are 99% effective when taken perfectly. However, we all make mistakes and sometimes pills are missed.

Luckily, there are types of contraception that don't require you to remember to take anything. These are called long-acting reversible contraception, which include the contraceptive implant, copper IUD (known as 'the coil'), hormonal IUS or contraceptive injection.
