I received my license in June 2018 & yesterday (march 8th 2019) I was doing 33 in a 30 & just realised the police camera van was there but just ever so slightly before the van I turned right. I’m worried that I’ve been caught as i know the cameras catch you before aswell. Any one know what might happen next?

I'm not too sure, but a camera can't measure speed from a single fixed point, it needs to be between 2 surely? so you likely missed it by turning off. 33, although obv a bad habit, sounds a bit too borderline for them to be bothering with really. I've never had to deal with them tbh.

You weren't doing 33.

It's chill even if they caught you the penalty would be minimal, I think the minimum is 3 points on your license & a small fine. May not even charge you if it's not that serious like you said.

A laser speed gun needs basically zero travelled distance to measure your velocity.

Catch you before??? Are you getting confused with SPECS average check cameras and radar/laser systems?

Well firstly, you were not travelling at 33mph. You would've been going slower as speedo's over-read by varying degree.

And secondly, police forces tend to obey the NPCC guidelines of beginning the threshold of prosecution: 10% + 2mph above the limit. However, they're not obliged to and can enforce prosecution anywhere above 1mph over the speed limit.

True, I'd meant to edit my post for that after doing a bit of reading, I didn't consider that a laser can obv do that in precise terms.

I suppose my original gist is true, a camera can't do that, but yeah a laser can measure it from a fixed point.
