The Student Room Group

Assaulted

Firstly, this lad caught my attention by shouting at summat. I quickly glanced at him coz he was only a few feet away. He then said

"What the fudge are you looking at you fudging ginger *******? Have I got *** written across my forehead? I'm gonna fudging smash your fudging face through that fudging computer screen"

Me: "What's the point in that?"

He stood up and grabbed my neck while i was sat down (pretty rubbish position to be in :frown:) then sat down again. then i asked the libaraians to remove him.

he grabbed my neck and threw me to the floor, hitting my head on the floor, because I asked the College librarians to remove him from the library.

The excellent thing is is that I heard him boasting to his mate that he had assaulted a bouncer last night yet his mates (NOT him) got arrested for affray so a double conviction should be on the way.

The question is....SHOULD I HAVE REPORTED HIM TO THE POLICE?

Cheers all, sorry for the long ranting post

most people never report incidents because they don't want the trouble or don't want to risk being implicated. I think you did the right thing...but I don't know if hearsay is good enough.

hearsay? The library was crowded, the libarians saw it, there was CCTV there...his mates got arrested last night so they should give his name to the police...i've got enough evidence!

That is nothing to do with hearsay. Presumably you have potential corroboration in the library staff, so report him.
ah okay, I was imagining some empty library with great ceilings and stuff. xD
if you have the library staff then report him.

I think this stuff you should take to your head/principle, rather than police. Fights at school/college happen regularly and usually don't involve police until something very serious happened (drugs, weapons etc).
He sounds like an ******* so you could and should report him...I'm surprised you had to ask the librarian to throw him out, in our library you talk and you get warned and then they kick you out?

Bear in mind that assault is like the least punishable outta all the crimes like ABH/GBH, etc so he won't be in for long and depending on what he knows about you it could mean more trouble?

Be safe  x

Yeah what he said...get him suspended or something! But like I said he might get more pissed and get his mates involved and stuff!

If there's evidence and everything, you might as well not let him get away with it. I suppose his gang of mates might come round to your house and burn it down, though. However then you could film it and get them all arrested. Gradually you would rid the public domain of scum, at considerable cost to yourself. Are you willing to make the sacrifice? Get a horse and a cape, if so.

Maybe it's time the police were involved for things like this? If the law comes down hard on scum then it might prevent them from going on to more serious crimes when they are older and more experienced. Nipping it in the bud is the way forward...it's too late to lock people up when they've killed someone coz they have the mentality of "Oh I won't get punished much" when they commit lesser crimes like the ABH this guy did to me.

Now you've reported him do you reckon he'll go for you again?

So you think keeping all hush hush about it is the right thing to do? In what way is that justified?

To the OP report the prick, no one should ever have to go through that..

Did you censor what he said or did he actually say fudging?

If he did I would have just laughed
Report him and cause him as much hassle as possible.

no I don't think that's the right thing to do. I'm just saying because that's why most things go unreported. I didn't know that he had half the library staff and witnesses. I already told him to report it.

I figured.

I just thought it was weird how you starred out some words and replaced some with innocent words lol.
im baffled why people like that even bother oging to college, or are even allowed in. you'd have thought institutions of learning could be a bit more discerning about who is actually capable of actually making a decent contribution to the place or just ebhaving accpetably and who isn't.

if this guy was not a student (i've never seen him in my life before)...he would therefore be a trespasser which would make the case against him a lot more serious
At least he didn't swear at you.
