Hey there. I do A level chemistry and physics and I had a doubt about how the mark schemes work when I am marking my own work.

So the questions for example are like:

1. What are standard candles

and the mark scheme says: objects of (known) luminosity.

The problem is I just say objects of known luminosity.

This example might not be tbe right one but you get the idea.

Ok.

So, will I lose marks if I dont write the things in the brackets in the mark scheme??

Will I? Will I????

Thanks for helping out

Hi there
I can see what you mean but I do agree that a better example will help!
I also did A level physics and to be honest, you do need the word known in there otherwise the standard candle isn't really a standard anymore.
Ie: the known luminosity is a certain value which is used to compare to other events.
