Mental health issues and career. Watch

I've been struggling with mental health for a while now and I recently went to see the support team. They were quite concerned for signs of anxiety disorder and depression and referred me to a GP.

Now I know it sounds silly, but I've been reluctant to go for the fear of future career prospects. I know they technically can not 'discriminate' against me, but the field I'm hoping to enter is very taxing and competitive and it's hard not to overthink.

I want the support, but I also fear the implication of being diagnosed and labeled as having depression. Do I have to declare it to future employers? Am I able to seek support without having it on my records? Thanks in advance.

UUnless you're in a career where you have to pass fitness to practice or the army or something your employer won't know unless you tell them. And honestly so many people have anxiety, they are unlikely to think anything of it.
