Mass transport In organisms

An amoeba is 0.3mm long
0. 3mm wide and 0.05mm thick
What is its volume and surface area
Mass is transported in orgasm by peristalsis.
So the volume would be: length x width x height
So: volume = 0.3 x 0.3 x 0.05 volume = 0.0045mm3

To calculate the surface area, it would be useful to draw it out as a cuboid to work it out, or you could calculate it:
Two of the sides (largest) = 0.3 x 0.3 = 0.09mm2 so... surface area = 0.09 x 2 = 0.18mm2
Two ends = 0.05 x 0.3 = 0.015mm2 so... surface area = 0.015 x 2 = 0.03mm2
Two sides = 0.05 x 0.3 = 0.015mm2 so... surface area = 0.015 x 2 = 0.03mm2
Then, you simply add them altogether: 0.18 + 0.03 + 0.03 = 0.24mm2

Hope this helps
Tough crowd.
