how do you answer a question like

write the number 1/56(fraction) as a power of 2?

Square the top and bottom so 1 remains unchanged and 56^2 gives 3136 so 1/3136

hi, Yeah I thought that too, but it wants the answer as an integer. sorry I forgot to put that. or would that still qualify?

It might help if you can post the full question, because it's not too clear what it's looking for from what you have posted

write the value of the number 1/56 (which is a fraction) as a power of 2
centre the value of the index as an integer.
