I've just had an argument with my mother. She was saying i had awful grades then i proceeded to show her my grades. I'm currently at year 10 (next year i do GCSEs) and my grades consists of:
English language:5 (C-B)
English literature: 5 (C-B)
Maths: 6- (B)
science : 5-6 (B-C)
Art: 5 (C-B)
computer science: 6 (B)
German: 4- (C)
History: 4+ (C)
I did some research (just to make sure i wasn't spitting out crap) and confirmed that to pass, you need a 4/C, which i meet for ALL my subject except German. How do i convince my mum that those are actually decent grades?

Show her that a 4 is a pass, and if she carries on, just try and ignore her. If my child showed me those grades, I would be perfectly happy with them, providing that this non-existent child was putting in their full effort. If you are putting in good enough effort, then your grades are fine, and if your mother can't accept that, then she is in the wrong. Your grades will probably go up as you get older. Also remind her that GCSEs have got A LOT harder than when she would have done them. Good luck.

Those grades are passes so don't worry too much because you still have a year to improve.. Maybe your mum is expecting all A's (7s) but don't worry too much about what she says because if you are trying your hardest and putting in max effort and achieving 5s thats great, but she could be angry at you if you are not putting in max effort and achiving 5s because she probably thinks you have potential to be even better.

It's good that you've got 4s and 5s and above in Year 10, because that means you'll most likely pass your GCSEs. You still have a year left to improve your grades - even if they're "bad" now, you can get them to 6s and 7s in Year 11.

Honestly, I don’t think your grades are that bad considering you’re in year 10, there are people I know who are failing subjects so you’re fine. If your planning to go to sixth form in the future then you need at least five 5 which is a high C.
