Hi,
I was an army cadet from age 13 to 17. To be honest you can join at any age under 18 but it’s best to start when you are young so you have enough time to properly learn and rank up. It’s a great experience, the camps are amazing & the people you meet are interesting. You learn how to fire weapons etc, you get the whole army feel. But to be honest, I’d say you were a bit too old & have missed out.. you have to leave before your 18th, usually when you are 17yrs and 9 months...

While I would normally recommend anyone go and join, 17 is perhaps a bit too old to join as a cadet. Depending on what kind of experience you are looking for, have you considered joining as an instructor? You can do this on your 18th birthday. It isn't the same as being a cadet, but can be very rewarding in a different way.

You have to leave before your 18th, that means 17 years and 364 days.
