Hiii, I'm in my first year of BSc Biomedical Sciences. We get the option to switch to a more specialised degree next year:

Biochemistry, BSc Hons
Biomedical Sciences, BSc Hons
Biomedical Genetics, BSc Hons
Pharmacology, BSc Hons
Physiological Sciences, BSc Hons

Some teachers told us to pick the one you find the most interesting so it'll be easier and you'll get better marks. I do find physio the most interesting out of them all (which aren't a lot of options cuz i actually want to do psychiatry). But obviously I also need to consider the career options (even though they say all the degrees have the same jobs)

I'm deciding between physiological sciences or just continuing with biomed. I'm not sure about physiological sciences though because there doesn't seem to be a lot of career options available - I'd potentially like to work in a hospital.

I'm planning to apply for GEM but I need a backup in case I don't get in, so I'm just thinking about the careers if I chose a different degree. I do think biomed would be a better option for a wider range of careers thought, but then I'm not sure if it would be "easier" as there are more subjects we have to study, including the modules that i dont really like.

sorry if this is really wordy lol I hope this makes sense!!

thanks for your reply! I've decided to stick with biomed as it's probably a safer option for me and i do like learning about different topics.

Do you actually like any of the careers biomed could lead too? Also, remember that what you studied at university doesn't necessarily have to be your career and that there are plenty of jobs which only ask for a degree, what said degree is in doesn't actually matter.
