Wow im shocked, i didn’t think so many people would reply. Thank you all so much. Really cleared my doubts and confusion about this, after reading everything i talked to my mum about it and she said she’d be happy if I did what i loved! 😭 I’m definitely looking into psychology whoever said that, Its not a gcse option but im interested in that. Thank you so much again! 😭 It’s upsetting as someone else said how many people are doing things they don’t want to do because of parents, it’s so hard to pick between what you want and what your parents want. I’m so glad I got other opinions, i was so close to saying **** it and doing medicine. Thank you

Well done on being brave enough to tell your mum.And well done to her for listening. My nephew was pushed into being a vet and absolutely hates it.Whenever you ask how is it going he says he is looking for anything that involves not being a vet! That is after 5 years of grueling veterinary courses.

I’ve never posted something on student room so I don’t know how this works. But I want to know what people think. My parents have been through a lot for me, but ever since I was young they’ve been pushing me towards pursuing science and becoming a doctor. They want me to help people in the future etc etc

I’ve always loved art, I’m so passionate about art, I take Product Design and Art for GCSE, and though I’m unsure of what to pursue, I definitely wanted to go down the art route.

I’m really conflicted, I hate triple science so much, I always have hated science. It’s not that I don’t find it interesting, or that I’m not smart enough for it, I just don’t like it. My parents are forcing me to take Biology and Chemistry for A Level, and at this point I’m close to just going with it. Art is useless anyway, right? I don’t know what to do anymore.

Should I pursue science, or what I’m passionate about? I know it sounds stupid not to go for something you love, but realistically a doctor sounds way better than an artist to them. I don’t want to take art and disappoint my parents, I want them to be proud of me.
Was in a similar situation myself, do whatever makes you happy studying subjects you have no interest especially in a-level is very difficult. You should definitely follow your passion no matter what.

Omg yes! Psychology is an interesting topic so good luck with that. It's a pity you don't have GCSE psychology but I'm sure you'll do great in A-levels! I'm so glad you're following your passion, don't give up on that. Good luck x
