Hi I’m 18 I don’t go to college or anything like that, I would like to travel round Europe by myself, as everyone else is either fixated with work or exams. I want to go and explore and have fun but everyone else is just to boring and I think it’s really sad. Has anyone else ever travelled by there self is it scary. How would I go about getting some sort of scheme or something, like work and accommodations. And would it be hard to meet new people?

Oh my god yes.
I did this the summer after my AS-exams (last summer, I was 17), I literally just got on a random coach to Amsterdam without thinking and ended up hitchhiking around Eastern Europe and met all sorts of different people from everywhere.
It’s the best, and most liberating thing I’ve ever done in my life. I travelled alone as a girl and met so, so many people. Dutch hitchhikers, people with their own businesses travelling the entire world on motorcycles, Scottish writers living long term in hostels in Prague, and black nationalist circus performers in Vienna. I turned off my phone and took no pictures. I ended up in Austrian small towns with small town people who thought I was crazy. I sneaked on the wrong buses and ended up in Slovakian small towns who didn’t get visitors who stared at me as if though I was an alien. I communicated through dictionaries. It’s definitely worth doing on your own - in fact, I wouldn’t advise travelling with another person because you’re so liberated on your own - it’s not difficult at all to meet new people and DO not go under any sort of scheme. Travel by coach/trains and stay in cheap hostels that aren’t in the middle of the city but kind of a little on the outskirt. It’s not scary unless you’re a coward.
