A-level Physics 6 markers OCR B (still other boards too)

I have been pretty frustrated with the 6 markers that I have been attempting in past papers as I am not able to ever hit the 5-6 mark range, it is extremely difficult to know what will come up in the real exam as well. Looking at the mark schemes they are always so different. Can someone who has achieved an A* in physics tell me how they were able to cover all the content and apply it. Also, I'm doing tons of past papers but my marks are always on the borderline A* and I want to get it way up so that I am confident with it after my exam, because you know on exam day you always get 10 marks less.
