good/bad/average is subjective. also i'm pretty sure 8's equivalent to an A*, not an A.

No. 8 is an A*. 9 is the top 20% of people who get a 7 or 8 (so about the top 3-5% of people).

4-5 are C 4 being a low pass 5 being a strong pass
6-7 B 6 being a low B 7 being a high B
8-9 8 being an A 9 being A star

as you can see, the A* is between the 8 and 9. that could mean that a 9 is a high A* and an 8 is an A*

If you look at the actual equivalent sheet produced the only things that are exactly equivalent are a 7=A and a 4=CEverything else is in between different letter grades
