It was OK, but a lot of us were short on time 😬

forensic science: Dna sampling e.g blood or hair strands and fingerprints= easier to prosecute and more efficient policing
cars: better transport, quicker responses to emergencies, patrol wider areas= more efficient policing

I kinda waffled the last point i know you could've written about cctv and online data bases but i mentioned: change in attitudes: based on the police as friendlier and protectors rather than freedom inhibitors made more people sign up meant there was a better number of policeman and made co-operation with public better, then i kinda mentioned woman officers i dunno i kinda lost the plot but yhhh

What did you put for the 12 marker

What did you put for the 12 marker

terrorism - Islamic extremism and IRA
technology - 2 way radio receivers, helicopters
science - dna samples
forensics = easier identification
cars/motorised transport = prevention + easier catching of criminals
specialised units and branches = specific training to those crimes e.g. Economic Crime Unit or PCeU

Dealing with larger scale of crime + special branches
Science + technology
Dealing with increasingly diverse and multicultural society

What did you guys do for that question where it’s like what question would you ask, and what source you would use?
I think I kinda messed up this one

I talked about technology and breathalysers

Then I talked about role changed slightly due to the establishment of the neighbourhood watch and how vigilance was encouraged and then I linked that to the police
(edited 4 years ago)
For the 12 marker I wrote about how dna sampling and fingerprinting have been used... easier to prosecute etc

Then I went on about cars mean faster response times (along with two way radios for better communication) but as beat officers no longer patrol the streets , their relationship for the community suffers

So for my third point I talked about how PCSOs were introduced to maintain police visibility and give lessons to schools etc on avoiding crimes... are these good points?
Details you would follow up

I just quoted a part of the source

Question
How many criminals arrested are found to be plagued with poverty

Source
Police memoirs

They would detail police raids and where the criminal was found and where they lived

Yeah they are good points and if you supported them with sufficient own knowledge you probably got the top band

Omg I completely forgot to talk about forest laws for question 5! And DNA for question 4!
What did people put for question 1? As most people at my school didn't have a clue about it.

I started it off with how forensic science means that they don't have to be spending time looking for the identification of the criminal, like in the early 1900s, as they would have DNA or fingerprints that would tell them who its is.
I then said that cars effectively made the 'beat' obsolete and they they wouldn't need to spend time on the streets, like they did in the 1900s.
I then talked about police now have to deal with arising mental health issues of the 21 century and how now they have to be much more than a police officer.
I finished it off with a little about how CCTV allows them to gather evidence much more quickly.
I know I probably did much more than what was needed but I had some extra time so I went back.

What did you put for the 12 marker
Question 1:
First feature: George Lusk leader of it
2nd feature: hunted the ripper, in early morning and Evening
2: source a- gives info about question but from newspaper so could be bias
Source b- content useful and provenance useful
Detail followed up-criminal HQ
Question ask: how many living in the area had criminal record
Source: police report
Help: will tell how criminals lived there were linked to crime
Section b
Tolpuddle: removed from society from transportation
COs: removed through execution
Q4: New police units, because of new crime
Technology improved
Q6: highway robbery—-> bank robberies
Smuggling: first smuggled tea and cloth then smuggled drugs
Overall statement is true
If you write Saxons instead of Anglo Saxons would you loose mark because I said that once in my answer on the 16 marker
I think the exam was okay but I picked question 6 and felt that I wasn't really answering the question properly when writing my answer ...

I only did one feature as I didn’t do the paper in order but I said

It was made up of businessmen. They were frustrated at the polices inability to catch the east end murderer

I basically did the same. I just said that it was started by a builder (George Lusk, but I forgot his name in the exam) as he wanted to take matters into his own hands due to the inefficiency of the police and that the group undermined the police as they were noisy and inefficient themselves.
I didn't put about drugs in question 6 because it went up to 1900 and drugs weren't really made illegal until the 1971 misuse of drugs act
