So if folks distrust the petition then a People's Vote is the logical alternative...

The petition really means nothing and a peoples vote is certainly not logical

The next general election is after the parliament from the previous one has served its time. This would be the equivalent of having another general election before the MPs had even taken their seats.

However, personally I'm not against another referendum as I'm sure the result would be the same again.
No, it would be like having a general election and then no party being able to get enough MPs to vote through its Queen Speech to form a government, so then a new election would be held.

"Tens of thousands"?
Did you actually look at the data or just take the word of a partisan website?
There have been 3 votes from Afghanistan and 1 from North Korea.
But then, when have Leavers ever worried about those inconvenient little things called "facts"?
There has clearly been foreign fraud on a massive scale. But I don't doubt lots of people have signed the petition.

So fcucking what? 15 or sixteen times this number voted to Remain. Who cares?

Do you think this will make a jot of difference?? Seriously?

2 million.

96% are signatures from the UK. UK citizens living abroad can also sign it.

Less than 8 times the signatures to get to the original Remain vote now. Or, perhaps more relevantly, 8.3x to get to the Leave total :beard:

I mean there have been 3 votes using an ip in Afghanistan and 1 using an ip from North Korea
Just as easy for some Chinese 50 cent member to do the same but with a uk VPN and for anyone else wanting to do this.

Not that I deny tha there are more than 1m people who want to stay but it just seems "RUSSIAN BOT FARMS!" has become codeword from the left for "Result I really dont like"
It isn't even IP tracking, it is a self elected drop down list when you sign the petition. So just a few jokers.

It is a self elected drop down list so anyone can pick any country they like when signing the petition.

Drop down lists are pretty basic technology to understand.

They certainly do log your IP and other data for later review.

Good meme but I can't recall any cases where the govt decided to do something they were absolutely against just because of a popular petition on that website. If somebody can point to a time where it did happen then well... we're in business.

Not one bit of difference, we know there is a fair amount of fraud on these kinds of petitions and it will get no where near the amount of people that voted to leave anyway.

We also know they actively remove suspicious signature attempts. And they were doing that last night.

Full of Russian hackers.
Not legally binding anyway, just an advisory petition.
The petitioners obviously didn't understand what they were signing.
Better start another petition just to make sure they have not changed their minds.

17.4 million people voted to leave. This is a petition showing 1 million people, so far, want to stay. Keep in mind about 16 million voted to stay. I mean, it's essentially just a percentage of the people who voted to stay voicing their opposition again.

3 million now, and it's likely on track to be the largest UK petition ever.

I do wonder a little how safe from government snooping and possible use all this data is - it's not too hard now to imagine an extremely right wing government coming to power, wanting to use this to deny people benefits or perhaps sack them from government payrolls.

The petition has topped 3m now. I think it's going to become the largest one ever in a few days.

Do you mean they might remove signatures later? I tested it with two different emails at the same IP and I was able to sign it twice.

Yes, they can and do remove suspicious signatures later.
