RAF Interview

Hi, everyone currently waiting for their RAF Interview, i have just passed and would like to know if theres anyone who would want a few tips, or is nervous and needs and questions answered. Thanks.
Hi. Congratulations on passing your interview?? Could you advise on how to narrow down current affairs topics. I'm struggling to pick ones because I don't know how in depth I need to go and which ones will be interesting and relevant.
Do they want to know loads of information or just a summary and my opinion on the topic of choice?

Hi, thank you much appreciated. Im going to be straight and say, that when i was interviewd they didnt ask me questions on this. Neither on aircraft, bases or operations. However i would still advise you read up on some, but dont go into to much depth. For example even just saying that “brexit would be concerning for troops and family abroad on operations and could also mean cut back on defense overseas”

I advise you learn alot on why you are driven to go into the RAF, what the RAF consists of, your Training (basic and specialist) knowing each phase of training also, Role of the RAF, challeneges of being in a military force.

Honestly dont stress to much it is a calm and relaxing environment. Also the current affairs i chose were : Brexit, East Africa Cyclone, New Zealand terror attacks, and the RAF ‘loyal wingman’. Youll find info on the Loyal Wingman on the “Forces News” website or even just a simple google search.

I wish you all the best of luck and please come back and tell me how you got on!

So yeah, you dont need to go into to much depth, all they want to know is if you have taken the time to research about them.

They’ll want to know as much as you know about it, if you’ve given them enough information they’ll cut you off. Knowing any key dates will be useful, and your opinion on the subject is important too, be prepared to back it up when they challenge it.

AJ am I correct in assuming you’re applying for a non-commissioned role? Because the interview is slightly different to the P2 interview and as you said, current affairs don’t feature heavily in the Airman selection interview. Congratulations on passing!

Yeah im just Regular P3. I know officer interviews are more in depth. Yeah i didnt get questioned on current affairs in mine, however my friend who has been in for about a year now when applying, still a Reg P3, he was asked a few questions on current affairs. So to learn for everything is still a major part. Dont miss anything out. Plus, learning more now will help you pass the GST at basic i guess. Also thank you!

Tips ok, but not only are there community rules on interviews, there's plenty of info here and on other sites if you look. Plus you'll have had advice at your presentation. You want to join up, use your initiative and do some prep and research yourself, rather than just asking for it to be spoonfed to you.
