Micropropagation is used for more industrial scale plant clone production, using tissue culture and the manipulation of different plant hormone ratios (auxins and cytokins) to differentiate the callus (undifferentiated ball of cells) into different specialized tissue.

Taking a cutting is alot more expensive and takes longer (more suitable for small scale/producing one plant. It involves taking a cutting and then using rooting powder to produce a plant that is identical to the parent plant.
