My A level journey and athlete lifestyle blog

I'm self teaching A level Maths, Chemistry, Accounting level 3 Mathematical studies

I'm sitting my exams in AS Maths, AS Chemistry, AS Accounting and Level 3 Mathematical studies this May

I'm planning on applying to do Chemistry at uni possibly a foundation year then bsc the unis I want to apply to are South Wales, Lincoln, Greenwich and Teeside. After finishing my bsc I want to do a masters in chemistry

The grades I have predicted myself are

C chemistry D maths D accounting D mathematical studies

Lately I've asked some unis if I could do a work placement (research project) and Leicester uni are making some enquires

In terms of fitness I've upped my cardio I'm doing four intense 2k runs a week and swimming interval training twice a week and my abs are still at four pack stage currently but I did eat a triple whopper meal on Wednesday which was my prize alongside a crate of protein water and 700g of whey protein for beating my friend in a Facebook abs challenge my abs selfie I got more reacts than him so I've overindulged a bit but I'm back to healthy eating now

I will update you on my progress every two days or so

Just done my 2k run in a new pb of 7:11 so I'm happy with that! My goal is to start competing in Park runs
So today I am meeting up with a connexions worker and a higher education specialist and we will be discussing my plans to apply to uni and what I should be doing
So I've not posted in a while I've been keeping busy with my fitness and A level revision

Maths is going OK I'm very close to the end of the aqa AS Maths textbook currently I'm studying connected particles in mechanics, which is OK I enjoyed studying newton's laws
This week I will Finnish off mechanics and have a look through some of the core topics and also look through stats which is my main plan for now but each week I'll have set topics which I plan to cover

Chemistry is going well in now on chapter 10 group 8 halogens I enjoyed studying the alkaline earth metals I learnt a lot and it was very interesting. I will do a test on chapters 8,9 and 10 when I Finnish chapter one 10.

I'm looking out for other possible work placements along side my work placement at Leicester uni chemistry department

I'm term's of fitness I've been going to gym three times a week, weightlifting, I've been on four 2k runs since my last update and I've had three fairly intense swimming sessions I'm also going to start boxing training once a week my body is looking more defined and i've increased the amount of fruit and veg I'm as well as following my cutting diet
So today I did a 2k run after going to church and it felt great not only because I had asked God for forgiveness of my sins in home but I had also prayed to become a better and ftter athlete so going to church before the run worked its magic as I ran 7:09 shaving two seconds of my personal best!
So I'm feeling hot today and not sure where to go for my 2k run topless or not

Sure I will do I've got some exciting news and photos I'm gonna be going for a 2k run today then weights at the gym and tomorrow I'm gonna smash a swim I'll let you know my
Reps and splits 😁
Good luck with the Chemistry..! I do A Level Chem myself, quite a challenge but it's fun to learn tbh.. :u:

It is a challenge and so is self teaching it, are you year 12? And what topics have you enjoyed most and what topics have you found most difficult?
Oof yes self-teaching is tougher, I'm with you on that. Yes, I'm in Year 12 studying it along with two other A-levels. The topics I have enjoyed is Physical Chemistry and Hess' Law, probably because I enjoy Mathsy-based questions. I really dread the chemistry practicals and I'm not looking forward to Electrochemical cells which is mainly electrolysis, as I find it confusing to get my head around. Other than that saying, chemistry is a hard a-level no doubt.

Awesome can't wait to see :h: Good luck with all the exercise
So today I got an email from Leicester uni chemistry department and I called them up and we have arranged for me to prepare some solutions and prepare apparatus for the next academic year and I'll the work experience from the 3rd of June to the 7th I must give a massive thanks to @Wired_1800 for suggesting that I make some enquires at the local universities I'm also waiting for hear back from a painting Ltd for shadowering in their laboratories

In maths I've now finnished my Aqa AS maths textbook and today I started looking at the mean questions I'm just recapping and tomorrow Ill start recapping on circle geometry in Chemistry I'm studying reactions of halide ions rn and I will complete the exercise tonight and tomorrow I'll look at uses of chlorine which should be excited as I am interested in chlorine! So far I've found unit 10 decent in accounting I'm studying manufacturing accounts rn and tomorrow I'll be studying limited company accounts which should be decent I wanna give a massive thanks to @SavageRyan for helping me with accounting this week

So today I'm doing a food journal and I will do food journals from time to time I will also upload pics of some of the food I've eaten today @Kraggor has inspired me to do some foodies and food journals 😁

Breakfast
a bowl of shreddies and uht 350 ml skimmed milk at 70g carbs 13G protein 5G fat
Protein oats with 250 uht skimmed milk
43G carbs 28G protein and 9G fat
2 boiled eggs 12G carbs 15G protein and 9G fat

855 calories

Lunch

Wholewheat 200G penne pasta with 200G sliced roast turkey 56G carbs 60G protein and 23G fat
700 calories

Post run snack

Protein boost drink
15 G carbs 20G protein 1G fat
150 calories

Tea
2 vintage chedder quarter pounders
5G carbs, 43G protein 30G fat
100G lettuce and three satsumas nor sure about the stats I'll update
2 Eggs
15
12G carbs, 15G protein 9G fat
680 calories

Supper

Two quarter pounder burgers
5G carbs, 43G protein 30G fat

So roughly 3000 calories today normally I'm eating around 2400 calories a day lots of protein genuinely felt like a good balance

So I did 100 push ups, 250 crunches, 150 tricep dips this morning also 2 min cycle kicks, plank, wall sit ×3

I did a 2k run at 5pm I ran 7:11 so I'm pretty happy as it's one of my fastest times

I had a 90 minute gym session working mainly on my arms and legs today I did 10 minute rowing, 10 minute bike, bicep curls dumbell 7 sets 20 reps bench press 5 sets 10 reps Cable rope triceps 4 sets 10 reps, tricep pushdown 5 sets 15 reps and some leg exercises

I will I'm so grateful for your help and that I've been given this work experience opportunity it will not only boost my personal statement but I think universities value work experience in the fields and it could lead to me getting a chemistry related job do you think there would be any chance of me getting a chemistry related job shortly after I've finished the placement? I' should have done two work placements by september? Thanks I'm gonna keep believing in myself and working hard atm my grades aren't amazing but I'm working to the best of my ability with self teaching my A levels each day is a new chapter!

What other A levels are you doing? I struggle with hess's law exam questions but I'm good at equilibrium questions, ideal gas equations, and enthalpy questions I'm OK with redox and half equations My favourite topics from section 1 have been forces acting between molecules, shapes of molecules, ekectronegativity, atom economy, ionisation energy and electron configuration, enthalpy, equilibrium constant and redox reactions from section 2 my favourite topics so far are trends in the properties of elements in period 3, properties of alkaline earth metals and the chemical reactions of halogens

I always did good in chemistry but found it too hard in the end :P

Glad you liked the idea of the food journal and great to see you are in cooperating nutrition too (I'm gonna focus on that down the line  )

Try clicking on the below button and make sure you downsize the image in like paint I usually make by like 600 Pixels across if horizontal and 600 pixels up and down for vertical pics

Alongside chemistry, I'm doing Economics and Law. Yeah, I liked the intermolecular forces, and ionisation energy and electron configuration too. I'd say my best topic from Section 2 is Chemical reactions of halogens, as it's easy to remember and pretty much understand!

Spoiler
