At what age did you first see porn?

Poll

How old were you when you first saw porn?

Porn is now increasingly becoming the way we learn about sex, and there are new age verification laws coming into play later this year that will make it harder for people under the age of 18 to watch porn. With porn now providing us with our understanding of sex and how it works, a new show 'Mums Make Porn' is airing on Channel 4, which follows a group of mums learning about the graphic content that is currently out there, and creating porn that they would be OK with their children watching in response.

Today we're asking: How old were you when you first saw porn?

We're also interested in:

How did you see it? E.g. did you look for it or were you shown it?

Can you remember how you felt about it when first seeing it?

Roughly how often did/do you view porn between the ages of 13 to 16, if at all?

Do you think porn has been healthy or unhealthy for your developing sexuality?

Anonymity is for the weak. I have no shame.

How old were you when you first saw porn?

I don't know the exact age, but I was definitely in Primary School. I want to say 10 or 11; it definitely wasn't before year 5.

How did you see it? E.g. did you look for it or were you shown it?

I saw a pop-up ad on our computer, and a few weeks later googled "porn" because I had no idea what it was, but I remember seeing a bare arse and that's all my curiosity needed.

Can you remember how you felt about it when first seeing it?

I know it wasn't sexual, which is strange. It was more curiosity. I would watch it like TV, without actually doing that until I was about 12 or 13.

Roughly how often did/do you view porn between the ages of 13 to 16, if at all?

I honestly don't think I've ever missed a day.

Do you think porn has been healthy or unhealthy for your developing sexuality?

It's incredibly unhealthy, to the point that it's dangerous. You begin to measure your self worth by whether or not you're a virgin, and you do that until you lose it.

I'll preface this by saying that I don't think there's anything wrong with watching any type of porn, as long as it's legal and consensual - even if it doesn't look it.

Porn makes kids think that sex is something that women do for men, and that they have no real interest in it. Sex is something that happens to women, for the pleasure of men. And once you start to actually have sex, you realise that the vanilla videos aren't doing anything for you any more because you can just do it yourself. You start to look at the more extreme stuff; you venture away from PornHub and TubeGalore and look for things that push the borders of legality to just straight up illegal, purely because you've seen everything else. It desensitises you, and you can easily forget that what you're watching is the result of human trafficking, drug abuse, desperation, and straight-up sex slavery. I would never have any idea what Bakky is had I not started watching porn at 10 years old. And when you start watching videos of women basically getting beaten up, punched, choked unconscious, you start to think that maybe this is a secret desire that all women have. Especially when in the video they're repeatedly saying "no" and "stop", and then give a happy smiling interview at the end.

I've never raped anyone, obviously, and I've always had safe-words with partners when we've done the more extreme stuff. Younger, more malleable minds, may not have the foresight to stop when someone says "stop", if they've seen that ignored in basically every video about sex that they've watched.

Started watching at age 14. Was nothing but bad news led to addiction and running away from problems. Never had any desire to socialise or meet real women as porn and video games and forums were so much more fun and didn't reject me. Led to poor social development and social anxiety, depression and bullying which led to more porn to escape. People said porn was healthy so I never quit and because masturbation was 'healthy' I assumed it was unhealthy to not masturbate. So I m regular and then might as well watch p. I found nofap age 20 which was 6 years too late really. I quit porn and masturbation and it was best decision of my life. Focused on self improvement; living healthier and doing more productive things. Stepping out comfort zone and socialising more. I am still very much addicted and still struggle with it but the man I am now is far far different to the man I'd be who was still watching porn. I suppose the answer to the question is porn 'healthy' the for me answer is no its incredibly unhealthy, destructive and dangerous .
my parents had an art book with lots of paintings of ladies au naturel. i used to enjoy looking at the pictures with my friends.

:teehee:
It was when dial up internet was still a thing and images loaded line by line, really built up the suspense. I must have been about 10 or 11, didn't bother me then, doesn't bother me now.

34 people have seen porn before 12? That is kind of disgusting. When I was 12 I had no idea what porn was. Tbh, porn was a recent discovery for me, the first time I ever saw porn was when I was 15 (maybe 14, although I don't remember)

yh its rlly horrible
1. I was 15 when I saw porn (maybe 14, although I don't remember seeing it at 14) but I did learn about porn at 14
2.I knew about porn before, I just never made a conscious effort to watch it because all my life I heard it was very wrong. I was talking to my friend on FaceTime when I randomly got an ad that linked me to pornhub, then I saw a video and couldn't stop watching it.
3.Well I had a boner and I was shocked at how good this was I was like "HOW COME NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS SOONER". After the video I felt disgusted as I felt I was objectifying women
4. Throughout the ages of 15-16 I maybe watched porn 10-20 times? I watch porn a lot more now though
5.Tbh, I think it's perfectly healthy, porn never got in the way of my life and it helped define I am straight, since seeing women naked is a dream come true.

Do you mean the first time we ever watched a porn video or the first time we've actually seen porn? If it's the last one then I've seen pornagraphic images at 13 through pop up ads. My first reaction to this was being disgusted and removing it from my computer.

This poll has a major error. There is no option for those who first watched it at 12 years old. The age of 12 is older than 'Before I was 12', but younger than '13', so there needs to be this option.

Between 18-20. Deliberately went looking for it... believe it or not it was novel research.

Added it in, but we can't change the order so it looks a little strange at the bottom!

Our family had recently got the internet and we were still on dial up.
My father was being kinda stingy with the internet use and password protected it.
I half heartedly took 3 guesses at it and to my utter shock and delight on the 3rd guess I struck gold.

Can you remember how you felt about it when first seeing it?

WOWSERS111!!!

After I first got access to it almost daily until I ran up a HUGE ass phone bill [we were still on dial-up] and my Dad started to dispute it with the ISP, [as he had no Idea I could get on it without his permission] and then he started logging each and every time he accessed the internet, so i decided it was not safe for me to browse it anymore and didn't really resume until we got broadband, and by then he had taken the password off anyway so it was easy to access again.

Do you think porn has been healthy or unhealthy for your developing sexuality?

Probably not healthy tbh.
but I wouldn't say it was super unhealthy either.

'Mums Make Porn' is airing on Channel 4

:lolwut:
11, I stole my parents I pad and stayed up till Midnight sometimes watching it because it seemed really interesting and I didn't really know what sex looked liked and I was curious so I looked it up
I definitely saw images before I was 12. I was probably 13 or 14 before I saw a video, just because i'm in my late 20's and the internet was slow as hell before that and videos online weren't really a thing. Imagine that.

I can't see anyway that it's been unhealthy for me, but I guess I cans see how it could be.
Such a lot of question just about pornography. Was 18 years old or even younger when I saw my first porn after midnight in TV.

@StrawberryDreams

My answer to the another questions need a bit more time. Give a reply later on. Main question is answered now.
wow before 12 is that popular?, mixed feelings about restrictions by the government, example of the nanny state, and will encourage illegal streaming...
