I'm looking in which accommodation to get at Lancaster University and was wondering if anyone knew anything about the different colleges, what they are like? What 'personality' each one has etc

Hi - sorry you haven't had a response to this yet. I'm just going to bump the thread in the hope that someone sees this and can help

Why do I do this?

The Universities forums get a lot of questions that are unanswered. This is often because the OP's thread got missed - bumping threads gives them another lease of life and frequently results in someone seeing it and being able to respond

If you would like to help with unanswered questions check out the first part of the list here and don't forget the second part of the list here.

Or if you have questions, get in touch with Puddles the Monkey.

At the end of the day the biggest differences between the colleges are their location and the types of accommodation they offer. Overall the traditionally quieter colleges I could consider to by Furness and Fylde, but opinions vary, they're also fairly centrally located without being on the main thouroughfare (see: Bowland).

I would say there's not really that much difference between most of the colleges. Each will have their own socials from time to time, but obviously there's other things to do if you're not much of a party person. I think most people pick it based on how close the accommodation is to their lecture theatres and also based on accommodation themselves. One thing I would mention is that Lonsdale and Cartmel (and Pendle ensuite accommodation) colleges are little further away from the center of uni compared to other colleges. So pwople who live there get a lot of jokes about how cos they're so far away, even the weather did different. However, the plus side is that the surroundings there are really nice!
