I study at Finance Bsc at University of Sussex, at A-levels I achieved ABB, but do not have an A-Level in Maths. (I am on track for a 1st)
I aspire to go into risk management but feel I have limited myself by a) not getting an A-Level in maths-so at this stage I am not given a chance because of my lack of maths background, and b) going to Sussex Uni rather than a better uni.
I had my mind fixed on Sussex with no real idea for a future career and equally with my choice of Alevels- English lit, psychology, business studies.
The reason I say this is because I have not got a placement year offer and am not optimistic about it either. Whilst peers at other universities have had more success.
To try and stand out in other ways I am currently enrolled in the CISI and have passed my first exam, and soon to take my next.
What does everyone recommend?
Should I strive for a masters at a better university?- e.g Nottingham?
Defer for a year and get my Alevel Maths + undertake more CISI exams?
Defer for a year and study for my CFA which I will be able to apply for come my final year of study? - whilst trying to get financial services related work experience wherever I can .
Any ideas or help is appreciated.
Thanks.
