Mason is the newest one however it is unproven.
Shackleton is meant to be very good, depends what you are after.
Strictly as halls, Hunter Court is very nice. However, it's not in the nicest area and it's a bit remote from other accomodation. I walked through the Vale the other week and really regretted not living there. :frown:

from what i heard the tennis courts are awesome for social life and the cheapest! yet there are no ensuites and no secuirty! The vale is THe Vale..where all the action is going on, and the shackelton seems to be the best so far, go for shackleton!

You'll be lucky... you've left it a bit late! I would imagine that Shackleton and many places on the vale are full by now.

Have a look through the other threads. There are many on the subject of accommodation and they're all pretty recent! Otherwise we'll all just be repeating ourselves again!
Yeah have a read through all the other threads in this forum and you'll definitely find some good info.

That could be anywhere - the people make it, not the place. Like the others have said, look through the other threads.

Yup, OP's a bit of a **** for writing like that. We all know good grammar's hot.

But for social life + quality, shack is the way forward. Tennis courts as great as it is, remains a wee bit dingy for my liking.
It depends what you expect of Student Accommodation. TC is not skanky in the slightest in my opinion - my flat probably hasn't been refurbished in 10+ years but it's pleasant, spacious and everything works. And, more importantly, it's cheap.

I do think tennis courts are nice, but if I had to do this all over again, I'd go for shack. It might be 2000 pounds more a year, and the catering is rubbish, but if the price difference is not that significant an issue, I'd seriously consider it.

If there were non-catered shackelton flats, it would be prime. I don't even eat in the hub anymore, I rather spend an odd 30 quid in tesco a week.

Surely Elgar is essentially a non-catered version of Shackleton? We have fewer people per flat because we're more likely to use the kitchen, but from what I've seen, the rooms are the same unless you're in one of the huge corner rooms in Shack.
Reply 16
Hopefully elgar is good, however, you do not really here that many people talking about it. Soph an you tell me please about how many people are in each flat.
Reply 17
Six people in each flat. There aren't many people on these boards talking about Elgar, but it's oversubscribed every year, and when you're getting to know people in the first week or so and they ask where you live, you often get the response "that was my first choice but I didn't get it".
Reply 18
I like Shack more though because of the way everything's close together, and the sense of community just feels stronger than Elgar. Not to mention walking those damned stairs is a hassle.
Reply 19
i put elgar down as my first, i hope i get in!!! I was kinda disspaointed to find that there aren't that much ppl talking about it, but soph you've made my day! How close is elgar to the main cmapus, and from the shackelton? and how about mason?
