London South Bank Uni (LSBU)

Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone could give me any advice about LSBU. I've accepted an conditional offer from LSBU for Sport and Exercise Science and all things being well (getting the grades I need from my current National Diploma course) I'll hopefully be off to LSBU.

So what have people heard about LSBU? Social life good? Anyone on here study at LSBU? How did you/do you find it? My first choice for accommodation is McLaren House so is anyone on here in there at the moment?

I went up to the uni the other day for a brief period of time and I was impressed but I've not had a full tour of the campus yet.

Many thanks for anyone who replies.

Not at all mate, any response is welcome.

Thanks for the offer, I know bits of the area as it goes as I'm a West Ham season ticket holder so I'm up and around London quite often and go on the Jubilee line but I still might PM you.

Im going there for a BSc diagnostic radiography course, think ur course will also be in the new faculty building there building. C u there bud.
I met a few of lecturers in my interview process in the hospital. They seem realy nice, genuine people. Any questions they'd tell u a completely honest answer.
One thing u must consider with this uni is that they are 118th on leader board. But i came from a school which failed its offsted inspections and wel i came out with gr8 results, saying goes dont judge a book by its cover. Its london which is why im going there. nightlife, more up2date gear, many different cultures which will be a gr8 experiance in meeting new people.

Alright Chris,

Great to finally chat to someone who is also hoping to got to LSBU. Hopefully I will see you there mate. I must admit I was impressed when I did go up there to have a quick look around and to check everything is alright. Talked to a few people about loans and so on and they gave some good advice.

To be honest I didn't check the leader board. As you say don't judge a book but its cover and it will be different for each person. London is a big draw for me what with living a 40 minute train journey away and spending quite a lot of time in London.

What house did you apply for as you're first choice?

Hi

I dont know alot about the place either, but live kinda on surrey/london border, so easy to get to. Got accepted to apply media writing there. All I know is the area itself is quite diverse and has bustling character of london, which in itself is a good point.

Hello mate,

I'm Guildford here so not far from me either. Are you going to stay at home then or stay in London? I've applied for accommodation already.

Does anyone have any idea when the results for National Diploma's come out?
Hey everybody!

I'm going to study as well at LSBU (Business Studies/part-time).

I couln't make up my decision of which house to choose, but at the end my first choice was Kent follwed by McLaren.

my bfriend stayed at McLaren for a year and I would say its OK.
He had a ensuit, nice room mates (shared kitchen was a bit difficult because nobody wanted to clean the dishes...) but all in all it was pretty cool.

The only thing which got on my nervs was the firealarm all the time.... -,-

You guys already got your respond in which accommodation you stay? I still got no reply........ -,-

there are so many black people and indian girls in the area ( which i really like  ). Not the town but in the inside ( like 200 m inside of the elephant and castle there are so many gangsters and crap. So be careful when u deal with these kind of people.

Hey everyone.
Im also moving into Mclaren hosue on Sunday. But im really worried. I dont know what room i have/i dont have the student handguide/freshers week and I havent heard anything from Southbank since i paid the room deposit back in Julyish time?
Has anyone else heard anythiing more about their accomodation/uni?
The only thing I have is a little enrolment card for 18 September
LSBU is as good as the people you socialise with.
Everyone looks gansterish but they're harmless. Union bar is aight but nothing special. It was better when the union bar was on london road until they decided to build a new building.
