Assisted suicide question

hi there,

I have not been at uni for a few weeks due to personal issues and have been given a coursework that asks the following question:

‘The difference between letting someone die and taking active steps to bring about their death has been central to the common law for centuries. Some argue that to depart from that distinction is to cross a dangerous Rubicon. Some argue that the distinction is morally and practically indefensible’

R (on the application of Conway) (Appellant) v Secretary of State for Justice (Respondent) 2018 per Lady Hale, Lords Reid and Kerr paragraph 6

Critically evaluate the above statement in light of the Supreme Court’s refusal of Noel Conway’s application for leave to appeal.

I am just asking what they are exactly wanting from me in this question....
I know the information about assisted suicide, but is the question just asking me to evaluate the law, giving both sides of the debate, i.e the sanctity of life view, vulnerability etc... and mainly focus of the views of an incompatibility of Art 8 ECHR and what happened in the case of Conway.

Any help much appreciated.
