You can't say they are 'doing well' or 'not doing well' without some point of comparative reference.

The OP just did, and the world didn't collapse in on itself. :p:
It goes without saying that there are many universities perceived to be better, if not much better, but in terms of the 'newer' universities I do not believe that it is a particularily bad uni.- you could probably do quite a lot worse than Brookes.

I heard Oxford Brookes University is now doing quite well in their LLB .

Compared to other ex-poly's (ie: fourth tier universities ), their degrees are excellent.

Compared to first tier universities (Oxford, Cambridge) or second tier universities (LSE, UCL, ICL, KCL, Durham, Nottingham, Warwick etc ) or even third tier universities ( Royal Holloway, SOAS, QM, etc ), Oxford Brookes is abyssmal.
So if you intend to attend a fourth-tier university, Oxford Brookes is an excellent choice.
You should realise that you won't fool anyone by saying that you went to OXFORD- brookes
However why would you want to attend a fourth tier university unless you have a giant hole in your frontal lobe ?

Goodness Flugestuge!

The chap clearly just wants to be in "oxford". Brooks has no link to the Uni. Its an ex-poly and if you want become a lawyer in the UK without being over 30 and having a 1st from such an institution its *probably* not likely to happen.

My advice is to get into the best traditional uni you can (even if not to study law, you can always do a cpe later).

Obviously there are always some people with less traditional qualifications that make it (I hope I will be one) but statistically its unlikely to happen so give yourself the best chance.

Well, thx for your comment , Flugestuge ! I appreciate it .
I am a student from Malaysia and planning to read law. Malaysia's college offers a LLB twinning programme with Oxford Brookes University and i understand that i couldnt fool anyone by saying that im from Oxford Brookes .

I doubted the LLB in this university since the college which offered this course label Oxford Brookes as a PRESTIGIOUS UNIVERSITY.

Malaysia's College offer these choices :
University of Manchester
University of Sheffield
University of Exeter
University of Liverpool
Cardiff University
University of Wales, Aberystwyth
Northumbria University
University of the West of England, Bristol
University of Hertfordshire
Oxford Brookes University .

What do you think ? Which University stated in the above is the best to read law ? I am not aiming to read law in those First-tier university though.
Actually, for the LPC it's meant to have a decent reputation. For the GDL it is linked to Oxford University, and there are only a handful of 'established' universities who offer the LPC (Birmingham and Sheffield that I can think of). LLB's a different matter, though.

Of the ones on offer, Manchester is the best, and a very well regarded university for law (probably 'second tier' if we're going to use those terms) followed by Sheffield. You should definitely pick one of these two, they are significantly better than any of the others.

How about Cardiff University ?
Reply 12
Cardiff, Manchester and Exeter are arguably the most prestigious universities on that list.

Cardiff is a very good university but its law department is not particularly renowned. Exeter's reputation rides on its popularity with public schools. In my opinion.
