Clubbing: Being one of the last 17-year-olds left in your group of friends...

It absolutely sucks. I don't turn 18 until the very end of July, and almost all of my friends are now 18. They have ID, they can get into clubs easily, and I find it particularly hard. I, and a few others, end up getting IDed and our 'friends' just waltz off into the clubs and leave us to amuse ourselves. It's really frustrating. Especially when you go out in a big group, psych yourselves up for a brilliant night out, and then you have to go home whilst everyone else has a good time.

How does everyone else deal with this? Fake ID's look laughably fake. It's difficult to find an 18-year-old who looks like you, whose ID you can borrow.

How long until you're 18?

My birthday is late-June so I was quite late with being 18 too. Thankfully the clubs we frequented rarely asked for ID.

She said end of July, the very first line in her post.

Fake i.d is good
Exactly the same position as you OP.

I went out last Friday for an 18th party, and there was only 2 of us in our group of 15 or so who were underage. Luckily we got into the club but I would have been heading home if I didn't.

I don't think theres any way you can get around it unless you borrow ID off someone who looks like you, or you have a good fake. I always try to go with at least one other person who is also 17, so that way you aren't completely alone if you don't get in. (I find it less embarassing I guess)
If you act confident and look older they dont usually ask, however i have to say, clubbing isnt everything, a quiet drink in the pub ftw!

I love clubbing. I'm in Yr 13 and am 17, literally all (save one or two) of my friends are 18. I have a crappy fake ID, it sometimes works because often they are looking for anything so at least they can say that they carded you and as far as they knew you were 18. Go to the gym lots, don't shave a few days before clubbing and *best tip coming up* before you go up to the entrance, bring two fit girls either side by you and you'll get in no questions asked! I've gotten rejected at least a few times, one of them had a really embarrassing walk of shame...but yeah it's worth getting rejected a few times to get in once!

Edit...forget about bringing two fit girls in with you because..you're a girl....I dunno...try it anyway.

The vast, vast majority of places only take passport/driving licence now.
I will be 18 till next year - am a year young for my form. Feel happy that atleast you will be able to (legally) go clubbing at uni.

Why can't one of your friends lend you ID? I used to borrow peoples that looked nothing like me and was hadly ever questioned- and even then just learn the deatils on it! Although it's a bit tricky with driving licences, with the postcode. But most peoples passport photos look nothing like them, and aslong as your friend also gives you backup id- eg bank card, blockbuster card with their name on it, most places will be fine even if it doesnt really look like you!
Where are you from?

Oh, i didn't read the last half of your post till i posted.

Try get someone with the same face shape as you && go on a busy night, the bouncers never care anyway as long as they can cover their backs and say you provided it

Not really how you want to spend an 18th birthday though

I don't know where the OP lives, but in my town practically every pub/club will ID on a weekend night if you look younger than 21. Acting confident only gets you so far.

If you're a girl just give a cheeky wink to the bouncer. Girls seem to be able to get in to clubs easy compared to guys. I was still getting IDed at the start of my second year of uni and I was 19.

I'd take that over a club any day.

Doesn't have to be quiet either.

I don't find that the case at all. I've used my university matriculation card almost exclusively as ID since I turned 18.

Moreover, you can presumably knock up a fake driving licence.

I get into clubs fine usually, but sometimes get ID'd I've decided it's not worth the hassle. So just going to wait till I'm 18 ... Which is in August!!
Don't worry, it'll be July before you know it  and just think at least you're not distracted from your exams

True but I've found far more places will not take a student card.
