Dedication to extracurricular activities - question.

When it comes to extracurricular activities, what is considered dedication to the activity, in the admission tutors' eyes? For example, someone could mention in their personal statement that they 'play the guitar', only for admission tutors to find out that they played for a few days, and then never touched the instrument again.

Would you say it's worthwhile for me to describe an interest in Chess as an extracurricular activity on your personal statement, if I've simply just gone to my school Chess club and taken part in my school's Chess events (of which I have been doing for many years now)? Consider that I don't play nationally, or play against other schools.
Extra curriculars aren’t going to make any difference to your chances of an offer. Admissions tutors don’t care if you play chess.

Super curriculars - activities and work related to the subject that you’re applying to that demonstrate an interest and motivation for the subject - are helpful.
