I have 4 offers for physics for this academic year, but recently found out I do not qualify for student finance for the upcoming academic year, only for the next one (talking to unis about deferring my offers). So, I have to take a gap year and was wondering whether there were any gap year placements that you could recommend in the physics/engineering sectors. Maybe even in comp sci/software engineering or finance. Anything really, I have not been able to find much except for the year in industry scheme.
I did the 5 weeks long astrophysics Nuffield research placement at in summer 2018 and that was excellent. Is there something similar, except lasts for a year (preferably pays?).

Why do you not qualify?
I get ILR (indefinite leave to remain) coming January, which is obviously after when the academic year starts.
