Missing the First Pill - pregnant?

Hi, I think I might have missed the first of my pills this month (combined contraception - microgynon). It sounds silly but I'm not entirely sure... I've taken them perfectly for two years. This could just be one of the times that for random reasons I have to borrow a pill from another pack, making a mental note of it.

Point is, if I missed it I didn't realise and I went on with unprotected sex. For a few days now I've been having cramps (no other symptoms of pregnancy). It might indicate I'm pregnant, or its just exam stress/indigestion. The advice available about starting a pack late is mixed. FPA says its okay to miss just one pill at the beginning, but most other sources including the microgynon leaflet say I should have taken extra precautions.

Taking a test won't be effective for a few days.... until then, any comments? Can I trust FPA's advice until I take a test? I think my exam concentration just got shot to hell. :frown:

how can you not know if you have missed it or not? you either know or you dont, surely?

how long ago did this happen?

Don't let it ruin your exam concentration!
To be honest you should be ok, laws of probability etc!
Your best bet is go to the doctor and get their opinion - they can give you a test if they think that's best.
Don't you start the pill on the same day each month? Because it's a twenty eight day cycle I always take the first one from a new packet on a Tuesday. Does that work for you?

I know it's really stupid. :frown: I have an extra pill sitting in the pack. Some while ago in another cycle I left the last pill deliberately, and I think I might have taken that as my first pill this time. But I can't remember, or check because I'm away from home. It happened two and a half weeks ago.

this all happened two and a half weeks ago?!?! so why is it too soon to take a test? or to go and see the doctor?

Yep, I will go see a doctor. I thought it was too soon to take a test as they are not effective until 4 days before the day I expect a period, which would be three days from now (though what you get whilst on the pill isn't techinically a period, so maybe its a moot point...)

Thanks for the advice

... easier, ask a pharmacist what you should do, its much quicker and then they can help you decide whether you need a doctor or not
